Designed Forward Ambassador Program

Most people break into UX alone. Ambassadors make sure their people don't.

Bring Designed Forward to your school, your cohort, or your online circle. You get your own invite link, a free community membership, and the freedom to run this however works for the people around you.

Open to students and early-career designers, researchers, and entrepreneurs. Online from anywhere, in person in Vancouver.

"Everything is learnable. And nobody should have to figure it out alone."

What you'll do
Be the reason someone
doesn't go it alone.

No scripts, no quotas. You know where your people are and what they need. We give you the tools. You decide how to use them.

01
Be the person who knows
Post where your people actually look: program boards, class channels, Discord servers, LinkedIn groups. You pick the places and the timing.
02
Bring people to the room
Invite classmates and peers to our free speaker sessions and our weekly Kickoff Circle. A personal invite from you beats any ad we could run.
03
Share your link
Group chats, club channels, class pages, your own socials. Wherever your people already are. Your link is tracked, so you can see what lands.
04
Bring your own ideas
Nominate a speaker, host a portfolio review night, start a study group, film a video that pops. If it gets people unstuck, we're in.

Community+
Free for ambassadors
Community+ membership, free
Full access for as long as you're an ambassador, including Matt AI and group coaching. The same community you're putting in front of other people works for your own career too.
You're not doing this alone.
We back our ambassadors with ready-to-use graphics, talking points, and event details. If you need something to make an idea work, ask.
Direct access to Matt.
You're talking to the person building this, not a support queue. Bring us problems and ideas.
A say in the program.
Ambassadors help shape the speaker lineup and what we run next. You're the closest thing we have to the people we serve.
First dibs.
New events, cohorts, and anything we launch goes to ambassadors first.
A network.
Fellow ambassadors, our speakers, and the working designers and researchers who show up to our sessions.
Credibility.
Real experience running community and outreach that you can point to on your resume and LinkedIn, and Matt is happy to be a reference for people who put the work in.
Where this can go

Start as an ambassador.
Grow with what we build.

Designed Forward is a small team and we're growing. As we build out more events, sessions, and programs, the ambassadors who've been doing the work are the ones we'll want running them, with our team behind you.

And when we're looking for interns, contributors, or community roles, you're the first people we call.

Who we're looking for
Sound like you?
  • A student, recent grad, bootcamp learner, or career switcher in design, research, product, or entrepreneurship
  • Comfortable talking to people you don't know
  • Part of a school, club, cohort, or online community, or ready to be
  • Self-directed. Nobody is checking in on you daily
You don't need a big following or a polished portfolio. You need to care about helping people get in the door.

FAQ

Good questions deserve honest answers.

What do I get out of this? +
A free Community+ membership for as long as you're with us, direct access to Matt, real experience running community outreach, and a network of designers, researchers, and entrepreneurs. Ambassadors who stand out are the first people we consider for roles.
Is this a job? +
No. It's a volunteer ambassador program, not a paid role or an internship. You work at your own pace on your own schedule, with roughly 6 to 8 hours required a month.
Am I on my own out there? +
No. We give you graphics, talking points, and event details, and we're a message away. As the program grows, so does what we can put behind it. Tell us what you need and we'll do what we can.
Do I need to be a designer? +
No. Designed Forward is for designers, researchers, and entrepreneurs, and for anyone working out how to get into those fields. If you care about helping people in that space, apply.
Do I need to be in Vancouver? +
No. Most ambassador work happens online. Our in-person events are in Vancouver, so if you're local you'll have extra chances to show up and host.
How many people per school or community? +
Spots are limited. We keep teams small so everyone has something real to do.
Can I apply with a friend? +
Yes. Apply separately and list each other in your application.
What if my school or community is already full? +
We'll keep you on the waitlist and reach out when a spot opens.
What if I get busy mid-term? +
Just tell us. No hard feelings.
